Found "Curry Udon" at Curry House CoCo Ichibanya! A Rare, Location-Exclusive Bowl
Stopping by Curry House CoCo Ichibanya while out and about, I opened the ordering touchscreen and spotted something unexpected: "Curry Udon." Having never seen it at other locations I had visited before, curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn't resist ordering it. My expectations were high for this encounter with a menu item available only at select branches.
Tasting the "Curry Udon with Rice" Infused with Savory Japanese Dashi!
This time, I ordered the "Curry Udon (with Rice)" for 960 yen (tax included).

As it was brought to the table, the gentle aroma of Japanese soup stock (dashi) rose alongside the spicy fragrance of curry. The broth is light, smooth, and styled in a traditional Japanese fashion, packed with generous portions of pork and green onions.
Slurping the piping-hot, chewy udon noodles, the dashi-infused curry soup coats them wonderfully. The spice level is nicely mild with a clean, refreshing aftertaste, making it incredibly easy to eat. Unlike heavy, thick curry sauces, the real appeal here is enjoying the straightforward, savory depth of the dashi broth.
Dipping the included small portion of rice (100g) into the remaining soup instantly turns it into an aromatic curry porridge (zosui style). It's a deeply satisfying combination that lets you savor every last drop of the broth after finishing the noodles.
Summary: A Refreshingly Different CoCoICHI Experience Worth Trying If You Spot It
While it's a shame that it's not available at all branches, the balance between the Japanese dashi and curry was superb, making for an enjoyable bowl right down to the last bite. It's the perfect choice when you want a change of pace from your usual curry rice. Some locations even seem to offer curry ramen, so if you happen to come across a branch that serves noodle dishes, be sure to give it a try!
