The Comfort of a Casual Spot: Revisiting Gyoza no Ohsho

Although Gyoza no Ohsho is such a familiar Chinese restaurant chain in Japan, it had been a while since my last visit. When I heard that a new seasonal ramen with autumn vibes had been released, I decided to stop by and check it out.

A prominent sign at the storefront announced the "Autumn Special Menu: Autumn Ramen," instantly raising my expectations before even stepping inside.

Tasting the "Autumn Ramen" (¥902 incl. tax): Packed with Umami Mushrooms and Refreshing Ginger!

Upon sitting down and opening the menu, I found the "Autumn Ramen" (¥820 base / ¥902 incl. tax) featured as an autumn specialty. I ordered it as a standalone dish this time.

Before long, the bowl arrived, generously topped with shimeji and shiitake mushrooms, pork, bean sprouts, and a generous mound of minced ginger and green onions right in the center.

First, I took a sip of the soy sauce-based broth. The clean, savory depth of soy sauce blends seamlessly with the rich aroma of shiitake and shimeji mushrooms, creating an incredibly comforting flavor. The mushrooms pair beautifully with the broth, giving it a sophisticated, nuanced taste.

Stirring the minced ginger into the broth adds a crisp, zesty kick that nicely sharpens the flavor. Made with Hokkaido wheat, the smooth noodles pair wonderfully with the crunchy textures of mushrooms and bean sprouts, keeping you slurping effortlessly.

The dish has a light, approachable palate, truly capturing the essence of the autumn season in every bite.

[Summary] A Must-Try Bowl for Effortlessly Enjoying the Flavors of Autumn

While Gyoza no Ohsho often has a reputation for hearty, heavy fare, this "Autumn Ramen" offers a refreshing and clean profile thanks to the earthy mushrooms and sharp ginger.

It is perfect when you want a quick taste of seasonal ramen or a refreshing break from the usual classics. If you're intrigued, be sure to give it a try!
