Head to Sukiya for Easy Seasonal Dining! Seeking Out an Autumn Classic
Sukiya is conveniently located near train stations and along major roads, making it easy to drop by whenever a craving strikes.
Inside the comfortable restaurant with both table and counter seating, as well as easy-to-use touch-panel ordering screens, I visited specifically to try their limited-time autumn special. I had a wonderful experience when I tried it last year, so knowing that this seasonal favorite was back made it an easy decision to return.
I selected the sought-after dish on the touch-panel screen and eagerly waited for it to arrive.
Packed with Ingredients & Luxurious! Tasting the Tsukimi Sukiyaki Gyudon (Regular Size)
This time, I ordered the Tsukimi Sukiyaki Gyudon (regular size, ¥780 tax included). I also paired it with a warm bowl of miso soup (¥110 tax included).

When the tray was served, the sheer variety and richness of ingredients immediately caught my eye. Piled generously on top of the beef bowl is tender beef simmered in special sukiyaki sauce, along with Napa cabbage, carrots, garland chrysanthemum (shungiku), shirataki noodles, and large pieces of grilled tofu.
Using the included egg separator to drop the raw yolk—resembling a full moon—right into the center completes an irresistible, mouthwatering presentation.
Taking the first bite, the rich savory-sweet notes of the sukiyaki sauce and tender beef fill the palate. Enjoying distinct textures with every mouthful is part of the appeal—from the crisp bite of the Napa cabbage and the fragrant shungiku to the grilled tofu that has fully absorbed the savory broth.
Swirling in the rich egg yolk transforms the dish into an astonishingly mellow, velvety experience. The hearty beef, creamy egg, and savory-sweet sukiyaki sauce harmonize perfectly, creating a comforting classic that anyone can thoroughly enjoy.
