To wrap up my Hokuriku trip! Enjoying exquisite curry at Go! Go! Curry Kanazawa Station Sohonzan.

In yesterday's blog, I wrote about Hachiban Ramen, which I visited during my trip to Hokuriku. This time, I would like to introduce another restaurant unique to the Hokuriku region.

This time, I visited "Go! Go! Curry Kanazawa Station Sohonzan."
Go! Go! Curry now has locations not only in Tokyo but all across Japan, so you don't necessarily have to be in Kanazawa to enjoy it. However, since this restaurant played a key role in sparking Kanazawa's curry boom, I wanted to experience the authentic taste at its original location.

To wrap up my trip to Kanazawa, it's time for Go! Go! Curry!

I visited Go! Go! Curry just before heading back to Tokyo at the end of my Hokuriku trip.
Kanazawa Station was quite crowded, but when I went to the restaurant inside the station, I was lucky enough to get in without any wait!
Had there been a long line, I would have had no choice but to give up due to my Shinkansen schedule, so I was really fortunate to get in smoothly.

I had visited this location several times before the COVID-19 pandemic, but this was my first time after.
Despite the long gap, I instantly remembered the place, which shows just how memorable it had been for me.

I ordered the "Roast Katsu Curry"!

This time, I ordered the classic "Roast Katsu Curry." I chose the small size with less rice (900 yen).

Inside the restaurant, there were many customers carrying large bags, likely travelers. I completely understand their feeling of "Since I'm in Kanazawa, I have to try it!"—I felt the same way! (Haha)

And here it is!

Even though I ordered the small size, the roast katsu and cabbage remained the same size, with only the rice portion being smaller. For those who aren't too hungry but still want to enjoy curry, this size might be just right. Personally, since the curry itself is the main attraction, this portion was more than satisfying for me.

Another unique feature of Go! Go! Curry is that it’s served on a metal plate with a fork! At first, I wondered, "Can you really eat curry with a fork?" but I soon realized that it’s actually quite convenient, especially for eating the roast katsu and cabbage together. After having it a few times, using a fork feels completely natural now.

Also, pickled red ginger (fukujinzuke) is provided on the table, so you can add as much as you like!

Time to dig in! As expected, Go! Go! Curry is absolutely delicious!

At first glance, the curry looks quite dark, which might make it seem spicy, but in reality, it's mild and easy to eat. The roast katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, making it incredibly delicious! The cabbage also paired perfectly with the curry, adding a nice crunchy texture as a great accent.

After finishing my meal, I found that the small size was just right—not too filling, but still satisfying. It struck the perfect balance between enjoying a hearty meal and not feeling overly stuffed.

Curry just tastes extra special when eaten in Kanazawa!

It had been a while since I last had Go! Go! Curry in its birthplace, Kanazawa. Even though the same menu is available in Tokyo, for some reason, it just tastes even better when eaten in Kanazawa—it's a mystery!

After finishing my meal, I took the Shinkansen straight back to Tokyo. Ending my trip with such a great meal was truly the perfect way to wrap up my Hokuriku adventure.

If you ever visit Kanazawa, I highly recommend trying Go! Go! Curry in its hometown!
