Last Chance to Enjoy! Hidakaya's Spicy Miso Ramen – Is the Popular Winter Menu Ending Soon?

March is almost over, and April is just around the corner. Along with that, the days have been getting warmer.
Amidst all this, I suddenly had the feeling that "it might be ending soon…" and decided to have a final taste of one of my favorite limited-time menu items at Hidakaya. In this blog post, I’d like to share that experience.

The dish I went to eat was the "Spicy Miso Ramen."
Although I’m not exactly sure when it will be discontinued, it tends to disappear from the menu around April each year. Thinking it might end soon this year as well, I decided to go and enjoy it while I still could. Since I was making the trip, I aimed for a time when there was still a bit of chill in the air.

I remember the ramen being released around last autumn, and I've enjoyed it several times this season. It's the kind of ramen you crave on cold days, and by the time you finish eating, your whole body feels warm. Sometimes, it even warms you up so much that you start to sweat.
Although I generally have a sweet tooth, the spiciness of this ramen is just right—it's delicious even for those who aren't great with spicy food. As I placed my order on the tablet, I couldn't help but feel a little sentimental, thinking, "This might be the last time…"

Then came the Spicy Miso Ramen. I’ve seen this bowl many times throughout the season, but thinking “this might be the last time,” I found myself gazing at it sentimentally before taking a bite.

The first one or two bites felt a bit spicy, but as I kept eating, I got used to the delicious spiciness, and my chopsticks just wouldn’t stop. The garlic chives, pork, and onions blend perfectly with the beaten egg, creating a well-balanced flavor. As I ate with focus, my body gradually warmed up, and by the time I finished, I was sweating once again.

Getting this level of satisfaction for just 750 yen really feels like something only Hidakaya can offer.

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, it’s likely that it’ll be off the menu soon. I might be getting ahead of myself, but I really hope it makes a comeback around autumn this year. Only Hidakaya knows how well it sold, but personally, I’d love to see it continue as a regular winter staple every year.
