The other day, I had the seasonal limited-time menu item, "Yamamori Asari Udon," a spring classic from Marugame Seimen. I'd like to share my experience in this blog post!
Here is the "Yamamori Asari Udon." I’ve had it many times in the past, but recently, it has become a store-limited menu item rather than being available at all locations. Because of this, I haven’t had as many chances to enjoy it.
Not just for this dish, but Marugame Seimen has been offering different menus at different locations more frequently. To be honest, it feels a bit inconvenient to have to check their website to confirm availability before visiting a store.
I personally wish they would standardize the menu across all locations, but I wonder if they have any plans to improve this in the future.
This time, while I was in Tokyo for work, I was thinking about where to have lunch when I happened to notice that "Yamamori Asari Udon" was available. Without hesitation, I decided to eat at Marugame Seimen.
That being said, I was surprised to see that any size other than the regular one costs over 1,000 yen…! Without a second thought, I ordered the regular size, which was priced at 840 yen (tax included).
Listening to the conversations around me, I noticed that several other customers were also ordering the "Yamamori Asari Udon." Since this menu item appears every spring, it seems to have quite a few repeat customers. According to the official website, this dish marks its 10th anniversary since its debut. I was a bit surprised to realize that so much time had already passed!
I also checked the official app and found a 30-yen discount coupon. So, I had it scanned at checkout, bringing my total to 810 yen.Even if it's a small amount, it's always worth using a coupon!
Here is the "Yamamori Asari Udon" I received. As always, the generous amount of clams is a huge plus. Not only that, but each clam is plump and firm, making it a truly satisfying dish. Having a lot of clams wouldn’t mean much if they were tiny, but thankfully, that’s not an issue here.
When I took my first bite, the broth immediately stood out with its rich, ocean-like aroma—it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, even without the clams, this broth alone would be enough to enjoy the udon. Since the clams cover the noodles, I had to eat a few first to reach the udon, but each one had a wonderfully springy texture. There were so many of them that eating through them felt like a fun, satisfying experience.
Once I finally reached the udon, I found that the chewy texture of the noodles paired perfectly with the flavorful broth, making for an incredibly delicious meal. There’s no doubt that this is a highly satisfying menu item.
My only complaint is that it’s not available at every location. If they could improve this, it would be much easier to enjoy without having to check availability beforehand.
If this dish is available at a Marugame Seimen near you, I highly recommend trying it. It’s definitely worth it!
