The other day, I went to Marugen Ramen and tried one of their limited-time menu items, so this time I’d like to share my experience in a blog post.
This time, I had the “Umashio-style Aburi Tori Soba with Yuzu and Mitsuba.”
I remember it being absolutely delicious when I tried it before, and I actually wrote about it on my blog back then, too.
I hadn’t realized it’s already been a whole year since then… Time really does fly.
I went a little later than usual to avoid the lunchtime rush, but even then, the place was bustling with customers—Marugen Ramen’s popularity hasn’t changed one bit.
The price was ¥979 (tax included). When I looked back at last year’s blog post, it was ¥935, so it’s gone up by about ¥44. At this rate, it might even surpass ¥1,000 next year… which is a bit concerning. You can really feel the impact of rising prices.
This time, without any hesitation, I ordered the “Umashio-style Aburi Tori Soba with Yuzu and Mitsuba” directly from the tablet.
And here it is, finally brought to my table.
Seeing it again after such a long time brought a big smile to my face (haha).
The aroma wafting up was simply irresistible, and its sharp, elegant presentation made me think, “This is going to be amazing”—my expectations were instantly high.
I started with the soup.
The rich umami of the chicken and the perfectly balanced saltiness stood out—it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I could’ve just kept sipping the soup on its own. The subtle fragrance of yuzu added a refreshing touch, giving the whole bowl an even more refined feel.
The roasted chicken chashu and tsukune (chicken meatball) were also incredibly indulgent—each bite brought genuine happiness.
The soup, noodles, and toppings were all in perfect harmony, each element enhancing the flavors of the others beautifully.
With this level of quality, it’s no surprise that the price is nearing ¥1,000—it still feels completely worth it. Before I knew it, I had finished the whole bowl.
I’m really glad I got to enjoy this flavor again this year.
If you have a Marugen Ramen nearby, I highly recommend trying the “Umashio-style Aburi Tori Soba with Yuzu and Mitsuba.” It’s a deeply satisfying bowl of ramen that I wholeheartedly recommend.
