Tried the Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal at Renge Shokudo Toshu! Comparing Its Outstanding Cost Performance with Hidakaya

The other day, I visited "Renge Shokudo Toshu" for the first time in a while, so I'm sharing my experience in this blog.

The reason for my visit this time was that I came across information about the renewal of the "Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal" and "Tenshinhan." The restaurant is not very accessible from my home, so I hadn't been there for a while, but after reading the article, I decided to visit again.

Since I came specifically to try the renewed menu, I was torn between the "Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal" and "Tenshinhan." However, I decided on the "Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal" because it contains half of the recommended daily vegetable intake. The price is ¥759 (tax included). Considering that the same dish at Hidakaya, where I often go, costs ¥840, I was surprised that it was nearly ¥80 cheaper.

The actual "Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal"

And here it is! The appearance is just as good as Hidakaya’s version, with a similar sense of volume.

Upon tasting it, the soy sauce-based seasoning was spot on, and the vegetables retained a satisfying crunch, making it incredibly delicious. It wasn't too heavy, allowing me to enjoy it until the last bite without getting tired of the flavor. I heard that the amount of pork was increased in the renewal, but since I don't clearly remember the previous version, I can't compare. However, I can say that it didn’t feel lacking at all, and I was fully satisfied. The pork was also cut into easy-to-eat pieces, which made it even more enjoyable.

Additionally, compared to Hidakaya’s version, the soup contained wakame, which I personally preferred. Overall, this set meal offers great satisfaction, and for just ¥759 (tax included), the cost-performance is outstanding. It’s perfect for a weekday lunch, making me want to say, "This is exactly what I was looking for!" (lol).

Hidakaya vs. Renge Shokudo Toshu

Hidakaya’s “Stir-Fried Meat and Vegetables Set Meal” is also delicious, and in terms of seasoning, it’s hard to say which one is better. However, considering the superior taste of the soup and the lower price, I’d say Renge Shokudo Toshu takes the win this time.

I haven’t visited often due to accessibility issues, but with such great cost performance, I’d love to come more frequently. The only downside is that it’s a bit far from home… (lol). Next time, I’d like to try some of their other menu items as well!
